With this funding, we have been able to fund an amazing 200 sessions of sports for our attendees which has given them great opportunities for improving their mental and physical health as well as team social interaction with their peers.

!!!WE HAVE MOVED!!!

We are delighted to say that in just under a year, we have actually outgrown our premises at Lochvale House in Georgetown, Dumfries!!! It was a great starting base for the business but is no longer fit for purpose, so as of 30th October 2023, we are now operating from Kindar House at the Crichton in Dumfries.

The premises are fully accessible, all on one level and self-contained, so we are no longer sharing kitchen and toilet facilities with other businesses. The space is also much larger and we have an outdoor area too.

Of course, we have access to the large and beautiful grounds and other businesses at the Crichton too.

Watch this space for new photos!!

In recent weeks, we have welcomed 2 students who spent time with us, experiencing work with people who have learning disabilities ranging from various degrees of Autism to Cerebral Visual Impairment and ADHD.

The students, who are studying to be nurses (1 specialising in mental health), came to us as part of a series of placements in the region.

We feel this is an important part of student placement opportunities as it gives them a very valuable insight into how to communicate with those with learning disabilities and how subtle changes in manner or approach can make all the difference in reaching a successful outcome in their assessment and/or treatment.

We very much look forward to welcoming many more interested students from all walks of life in the future.

Our 100 Miles in March Walking Challenge

Just before the start of March 2023 we decided that we would like to raise money for Dumfries & Galloway Mental Health Association – www.DGMHA.org.uk.

We chose to do this by challenging ourselves to walk 100 miles in the month of March. As a group, we actually walked 767 miles between us!!! A massive achievement for our amazing gang. The photo above shows us receiving specially printed t-shirts from DGMHA.

We raised £300 to go towards offering much needed support to the mental health of everyone in Dumfries & Galloway.
